1923 was a difficult year for the Weimar Republic because of the french invasion of the Rhur. The French invaded this important industrial area because Germany was non paying the reparations that it owed from the war. They were not breaking any rules as the treaty of Versailles said that France was fitted to do this. There was a huge uproar in Germany and the Weimar government called on workers to passively resist the French. The German pot did this by going on a strike and refusing to co-operate with the French, this was a double blow for Germany as they were loosing both possessions from the Rhur but it was today also loosing all that the Rhur would have produced therefore making Germany rase poorer. During this period of time over 100 German workers died imputable to these demonstrations.

1923 was also a difficult year for the Weimar Republic because of hyperinflation. Hyperinflation happened because Germany owed so much coin due to reparations of the war, it simply thought that it would skillful be able to print more money, but when a government prints money that it does not have the value of money decreases and prices go up.



In Germany this was a huge problem as inflation was rising at astonishing rates and the effects were disastrous. Many good deal that had worked hard are there lives were oblige to become beggars as the pensions and savings lost all value. The people that had jobs were still in disastrous positions, as their wages could not keep up with the increasing rate of inflation. People were not blaming the Kaisers war government but instead they were blaming the Weimar government, as they were the ones that had hold to pay the war reparations in the treaty of Versailles.
