I feel that his house is so immense and beautiful because he wants to be thought of as a high roller and very successful. So therefore that describes the spark to Jays post through illegal activities just to get the love of his life back and to make his heart whole again.
Secondly I would like to talk about the Buchanans mansion located in East Egg, which in the novel is where Daisy is staying because she is married to Tom.
