Henry Higgins:
At the beginning of the play, Henry Higgins appears as an unimpeachable note taker writing down information about the gush girl, Eliza. At first, he calls her a dirty and low guttersnipe. He is real rude and always wants that feeling of superiority. He because takes on Eliza as a student to teach her English. He was determined to win his bet that he could pass her mangle as a duchess. Throughout the whole experiment with Eliza he was only interested in his victory rather than what would work of Eliza afterwards. Higgins is very bossy but he tries to pretend that he is good. He is sure that he could make Eliza a noblewoman because he is such a good teacher. He is very harsh with Eliza and treats her as an object rather than a serviceman be. Finally when he wins his bet, he celebrates with Pickering but doesnt comment Eliza at all. Towards the end of the play, Higginss other side begins to show. When Eliza mentions she is go away and wants to marry Freddy, Higgins becomes very nervous because really he likes Eliza. He realizes that he needs Eliza yet he would never read it.

Colonel Pickering:
Colonel Pickering befriends Higgins when they meet by the rainstorm. Like Higgins, he is also an respectable in languages and phonetics.



He bets Higgins that it wont be practical to pass Eliza off as a duchess in sixsome months. Throughout the whole experiment, Pickering is always the one who teaches her social and kosher conduct. He is more sensitive and fatherly then Higgins and treats Eliza as a lady rather than a flower girl. He tells Mrs. Higgins I assure you, we take Eliza very seriously. Pickering is very large-hearted and always a gentleman. He always tells Higgins when he is being too harsh. Pickering treats Eliza with kindness, benevolence and compassion. He teaches her how to respect herself. Towards the end of the play, Eliza mentions that her say-so started when Pickering called her Ms. Doolittle.
